bashing a fledgling Hazeltine National in 1970, Tony Jacklin
of Great Britain was feeling right at home. He shot four subpar
rounds to win the U.S. Open by seven strokes.
It was the first time a golfer from the UK
had won since 1920 - a long, long 50 years. His margin of victory was the greatest in Open competition
since 1921 and stood until Tiger Woods won by 15 shots at Pebble
beach in 2000, in fact he was the first since Tony to go wire to
